Welcome to
ESI AS
Effect Ships International AS and daughter company SES Europe AS (SE) have been dedicated to developing and introducing new innovative vessel concepts and designs since 1998. Environmental issues have always been of high concern. ESI has achieved a very good reputation and acceptance in the international maritime sector, particularly on fast vessel solutions. SE and ESI have been focusing on air assisted hull forms. ESI introduced and patented the Air Supported Vessel (ASV) technology in 2002, with patents awarded and pending in more than 80 countries world wide. Until now the commercial and naval sector have been given priority and a considerable number of design solutions covering the full range of vessel sizes from 15 – 125 m LOA have been prepared. Tank testing and manned model tests have been frequently used, with approximately 10 different hull forms, fully tank tested in collaborating partner SSPA Sweden AB’s towing tank in Gothenburg. ESI has collaborated very closely with SSPA, Rolls Royce Kamewa, Volvo Penta, DNV and others in various R&D projects, with considerable success. Mainly catamaran hull forms have been investigated, but as the ASV IPR also covers mono hull applications, ESI is now investigating ASV mono hulls more closely. The market demands for propulsion systems on the high speed ASV’s, have been water jet propulsion. But ESI has now developed ASV hulls for low and mid speed applications to suit new types of propulsions, including Volvo Penta IPS and Vector prop from Voit Air Fertigung GmbH.
