Trade and industry
Skagen is an active industrial and commercial town. Fisheries and fishing industry is the predominant industry. Approximately 50% of Skagens turnover is related to fish in one form or another. The tourist industry ranks no. 2 to fishing and then comes the thriving retail trade in Skagen. The population counts 8.750 persons by January 2009. During the summer season this number increases to between 50 and 60.000. During the year Skagen is visited by approximately 2 mill. quests.

Crane and truck service, tug and roadstead service, divers, refrigeration plant, fish auction and warehouses, fish processing industries, electronic equipments, shipping, stevedoring, supply vessels, shipyards, all sorts of fishing equipment, Maritime College.
Landings during 2008:
Fish for consumption 145.419 tons valued at DKK 481.252 mill. Industrial fish 189.761 tons valued at DKK 200.188 mill.
Visiting leisure boats in 2008:
12.100 mainly from Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Germany.
Recent developments:
2007 – An extension of 110.000 sq. metres industrial area.
2009 – A new quay of 170 metres with a water depth of 9 metres.
